GARMENT CARE
Compared to synthetic dyes, plant based dyes are more sensitive to washing, pH levels, and sunlight than chemical dyes. With a little extra attention, maintaining their quality becomes easy.
HAND WASHING
When washing naturally dyed garments, use cold water and use a pH-neutral soap. It’s completely normal for the dye to bleed slightly during the first few washes.
MACHINE WASHING
You can machine wash naturally dyed clothing on a cold, delicate cycle, but always wash with similar colors. Always use a pH-neutral soap. Just keep in mind that machine washing may cause more fading than hand-washing.
TIPS AND TRICKS
Avoid wringing or rubbing the fabric, as this could create streaks.
pH SENSITIVITY
Since natural dyes are sensitive to pH and chemicals, opt for a pH-neutral, biodegradable detergent, and avoid contact with acidic substances, like lemon juice, while wearing.
LIGHT FADING
Always hang naturally dyed garments to dry out of direct sunlight, as too much sun can fade the colors.
